Fremra-Deildarvatn on Melrakkaslétta is in the heath southwest of Raufarhöfn. It is 90 m above sea level and its estimated area is 0.89 km². A small stream flows into it from Hólmavatn and the River Fremri-Deildará flows from it to Ytra-Deildarvatn. There are a lot of Arctic char and brown trout in Fremra-Deildarvatn and salmon often migrate into the lake in the autumn. Due to difficult access, Fremra-Deildarvatn is not much fished. Access is on foot or on a horseback. It is a good hour’s walk to the lake from a place that can be reached by car. However, fishing the river Fremri-Deildará on the walk in to Ytra-Deildarvatn makes this an enjoyable journey.
