Lake Western-Gíslholtsvatn is in Holtahreppur in Rangárþing about 85 km from Reykjavík and is in a short distance from Eeastern-Gíslholtsvatn. This lake is about 1.3 km² in area and is about 58 meters above sea level. The creek, Herrulækur, falls from the lake into Þjórsá and it is often possible to get good fishing where it merges river Þjórsá. In the Western-Gíslholtsvatn you can find both Arctic char and brown trout and the char is much healthier/vivid than the one in the eastern lake.
