Fremri-Deildará

Fremri-Deildará is on Melrakkaslétta and flows from Lake Fremra-Deildarvatn down to Lake Ytra-Deildarvatn. This is a small but especially beautiful river. Anglers must put in some effort to fish it, as there are no roads along the river. Cars can be parked by Ytra-Deildarvatn and anglers must then walk north by the lake until they reach Fremri-Deildará. At the bottom of the river there is a 200-m section, where an incredible number of char often gather and the shoal can sometimes be seen. Brown trout can also be found in many parts of the river. The fish are often willing to take the fly, both nymphs and streamers, and under the right conditions it is possible to fish with dry flies. The char in Fremri-Deildará are usually 1-2 lbs. but the trout can be bigger. In the autumn there is also the chance of salmon.
