The Grundartjarnir ponds are two and are in the so-called Grundarskálar in the eastern part of Svínadalsfjall. The southern pond is larger, estimated at 0.12 km², but both are at about 450 – 500 m above sea level. It is therefore necessary to take a 30-minute walk up a mountain slope to reach them. Fishing permits are valid throughout the area and their number is not limited. The catch is char, usually rather small but there can be plenty of them. It is best to fish when it is calm with little sunshine.
