River Hamarsá is in Geithellnahreppur in South-Múlasýsla. It’s source is the glacier Þrándarjökull and the valley of Hamarsdalur. The river flows through the entire valley and draws small rivers and streams to it until it falls into Hamarsfjörður. The river is fishable for about 6 km and access is good. The catch is a sea-run char, highly variable in size and often large fish are caught along with smaller ones. Salmon migrate into Hamarsá, but few are caught on a rod. However, there are few respectable fishing spots in the river.
