Description
River Holsá – The Borg is a well-known and a very productive fishing area at the bottom of the Rangá water system. The section previously belonged to the main area of Ytri Rangár and is known for large catches during migration, but there are many salmon there during the whole fishing season. In recent years, the area has been producing 500-1000 salmon. There are well-known fishing spots in the area, such as Staurhylur, Straumey and Borg.

Fishing cabin
There is a decent fishing cabin in the area. The house is located by the fishing spot Straumey. The house is self-catering but beds are made, and cleaning is included. Anglers need to take with them all rubbish and be tidy, and the vacate the house by 13:30 on the last day of fishing. It is also possible to book accommodation in the fishing lodge by Ytri Rangá.
Fishing rules
Only fly fishing is permitted from the opening day to noon on September 3rd, after which bait fishing is allowed is fly, worms and spinners. All females, 70 cm and larger, must be released into salmon chests located by the river at each beat.
Directions
Drive down Þykkvabæjarvegur about 1 km before reaching Hella and turn left down a trail marked “Ástarbraut” down to the river. From there is possible to drive both up and down the fishing area. The fishing area stretches from the boundary below the fishing spot Djúpósnef in West Rangá and down to the fishing spot Borg
