This is a small lake in the land of Skála in Langanes. At one time, Skálar was a fishing village with a population of close to two hundred. The fishing was, at one time, very good but circumstances changed, and the village was abandoned in the 1950s. There are brown trout and Arctic char in Kringla and the fishing opportunities are similar to Bjarnavatn, which is close by. A stream connects the lakes and further from Kringla to the sea. This stream is not fishable from the sea.
