Description

Raufarhafnarvötn are two lakes, located on Melrakkaslétta between Skálavatn and Ólafsvatn. They are located 30 m above sea level and the northern lake is 0.34 km² in area, while the southern one is 0.40 km². The surroundings of the lakes are mainly moorland and low hills and between them flows a small stream. In the lakes are Arctic char and brown trout that catch well on a rod. The brown trout can be quite big. Difficult access means that only a few people make their way to the lakes with angling in mind. It is a two-hour walk from Raufarhöfn and an hour-long walk from the path through Mjóavatnsása to Skálavatn.

Fishing is permitted everywhere in both lakes
