This little river is in Fljótavík in Hornstrandir and runs into Fljótavatn. This is an exciting fishing area and in the whole system (the river, the lake and so-called Atlastaðaós) there are a lot of fish. These are mainly char, but also few salmon. In Reiðá the fishing is best in August and according to Sigrún Vernharðsdóttur, in Ísafjörður, which is descended from Fljótavík, there are often so many fish in Reiðá that you can’t see the bottom. Everyone who travels to Fljótavík is allowed to fish for food in the river, free of charge, but with permission from the landowners.
