What can be fished

Description

Ytra-Lón (lagoon) is 0.7 km² in size, at 4 – 5 m above sea level. The outflow is about a mile from the Lónsá river, and the lake lies a short distance north of it, about 1 km from the sea. The lake has both local brown trout and sea trout and fishing is often good. Ytra Lón contains a great number of brown trout, usually around 1.5 to 2 pounds and there are fish up to 6 pounds. A small stream flows from Ytra Lón to Lónsá, which allows the brown trout to migrate up Lónsá. Arctic char is extremely rare. It is best to get to the lake by highway no. 869 from Þórshöfn.
