What can be fished

Description

River Hrútafjarðará is a great river for smaller groups and is one of the best fly-fishing rivers in the country. In 2015 Hrúta, as it is often called, and its tributary Síká produced 860 salmon on three rods. The previous record was from 2013 when 702 salmon were caught. Catching a big salmon is possible, with salmon up to 10 kg caught most summers. Arctic char fishing in the river can be good and it is not uncommon that 250 – 300 char are caught every summer. The char can be big and are mostly caught in the lower part of the river.
