Arctic Char

Description

Fljótaá is in Holtshreppur in Fljótum about 24 km from Siglufjörður. It flows from lake Stífluvatn and is approximately 8 km in length. The catchment consists of Miklavatn, Fljótaá and the tributaries Reykja- and Brúnastaðará. Fljótaá is a salmon river, but it is also known for a great Arctic char fishing, both of resident and sea-run char. Two to three days are sold at a time, from noon to noon. The average catch in the river is 160 salmon and about 2000 char.

Angling lodge

The fishing house Bergland is self-catering, but with made up beds and a cleaning service after each group. The house is designed to be used by a single group rather than separate individuals as it has rooms in different sizes, one bathroom with a shower and a shared kitchen and lounge. However, separate groups can enjoy themselves in the house, with the organized consent of all. The rooms are as follows:

• One large double room with space for an extra sleeping bed

• Two small double rooms

• One double room with a bunk bed

• One single room with a queen size bed
