The Arctic char and sea trout beat of River Víðidalsá is the lowest part of the river before it flows into the lake Hóp. Catch statistics in recent years show this is one of the most productive trout beats in the country, and a considerable number of salmon are also caught there. Most of the char are 2 to 3 lbs., but often bigger char are caught and it is not unusual to catch char of 4 lbs. The average catch each summer is about 600 trout and 20 salmon but included in that number are quite a few sea trout that are caught mainly in the autumn. Two rods are allowed, and they are always sold together.
