River Fremri Laxá is one of the better brown trout rivers in the country. The number of trout that migrate to the river during the summer months is enormous and the catch is often so great that fishermen quickly lose count of the number of fish. The brown trout in Fremri Laxá are not big, usually 1 – 1.5 lbs., but they are strong and playful. Some larger trout between 50 – 60 cm are caught every summer. The river is rather small, suitable for the fly and especially the dry fly. Each summer a few salmon are caught in Fremri Laxá. For example, 28 salmon were caught in the summer 2010, 47 salmon in the summer 2013 and 40 salmon 2015. The river is family friendly and there is good access to many good pools. The groups that visit the river have been loyal to it and come year after year. The river is fished 2 – 3 days at a time. An average catch is about 3800 Brown trout and 30 salmon each summer.
