What can be fished

Description

River Breiðdalsá has its source in mountains where streams converge and Tinnudalsá, Suðurdalsá, and Norðurdalsá flow together. The surroundings of Breiðdalsá are spectacular and it is said that people can hardly find a more beautiful river to fish. There is good potential for big salmon – salmon around and over 10 kg are caught annually. The river has many beautiful fishing spots with good access.

Travel options are by car to Breiðdalur or by flight to Egilsstaðir where rental cars are available. From the airport to Breiðdalsá is just over 100 km.

From 20.06 – 19.07 and 10.09 – 20.09 the river is fished with 6 rods. From 19.07 to 10.09 the river is fished with 8 rods.

 

Directions

The salmon section in Breiðdalsá extends through the whole river above the trout section, together with Tinnudalsá and Norðurdalsá.
