Description
Sauðlauksdalsvatn is about 0.35 km² in area and about 10 m above sea level. The lake holds Arctic char, both sea-going and resident. There are also good brown trout in the lake and anglers have caught fish up to 16 pounds. Most of the char are 1-1.5 pounds in weight. The lake has been within the Fishing Card for several years and many anglers have fished it regularly over the years, as camping by the lake is allowed. A good fishing place is where the river flows into the lake. It is suitable for fly fishing, as it is easy to wade out into the yellow sand.

Camping by the lake is permitted, but there are no sanitary facilities in the area. Still, there is a plan to set up such a facility.
Fishing rules
People are kindly asked not to leave rubbish behind, and it is strictly forbidden to drive off-road. Fishing in the river flowing into the lake is prohibited. Children under the age of 14 fish for free accompanied by a cardholder. Anglers can go straight to the lake and are asked to have the Fishing Card at hand when the fishing guard visits guests. It is permitted to fish in the whole lake, but it is mainly fished on the side where it is accessed.
