This is one of the good fishing lakes at Hornstrandir. It is a short distance up from the bay, Aðalvík, and from there River Staðará flows to the sea. Staðarvatn is 10 m above sea level and is estimated to be 0.44 km². Through Staðará, both Arctic char and sea trout enter the lake and also some salmon, although these are rarely part of the fishermen’s catch. There are also some local fish. Most of the fishing is in the lake itself, but there are quite a few fishing spots in the river. Landowners do not worry if tourists’ fish for the pot, but they must contact local people and get permission.
