Lake Villingavatn, or Tjörnin, does not show much but does store a lot of trout, many of which are very large. The pond has so far been a half-secret of some anglers. The brown trout is of the Þingvallarlake strain and the size and cruelty accordingly. The lake is small and shallow and often possible to see currents on the water surface after huge fish.
Area B in the land of Lake Villingavatn can provide good brown trout fishing. The area extends from the car park and east of Tangi by Hellisvík. Although the fishing can be good in the whole area, the two are usually the best. At the western “tangi” there is a shallow part where it is possible to wade into, there is a edge which fish often lies outside. There are both brown trout and arctic char, but mostly brown trout in the spring.
