The lake is about 0.14 km², about three meters deep and is 15 m above sea level. In the lake there are both sea trout and Arctic char that go up Skaftá and from there through a stream into Víkurflóð. In addition, there is local char and brown trout in the lake. Fish sizes range from a small fish to 5–6-pound fish. Sea trout are found in most places, also in the sediment on the south side of the lake. As the summer progresses, a ring of vegetation grows out of the lake which can make spin fishing difficult. Usually gives best early or late afternoon.
