The first salmon this season was caught at the Urriðafoss waterfall in river Þjórsá, shortly after the opening at 8am. It was Stefán Sigurðsson, the owner of Iceland Outfitters and leaseholder of Urriðafoss, which caught the fish in the fishing spot Lækjarlátur. It was a female, which measured about 70 cm. A total of 3 salmon were landed this morning, and hopefully that number will increase on the second shift , but 17 salmon were caught in total on the first day last year.
