The sea trout has arrived, and most of the prime sea trout rivers opened for fishing in early August.
Some days ago, Jón Hrafn, one of the tenants of river Eldvatn in Meðaland, was inspecting the condition of the river and the roads alongside it. He seized the opportunity to fish for sea trout along the way and was successful. A fresh, silver fish from the sea took his bait and measured 84 cm.
A few days later, Kristján Páll, the manager of Fish Partner, was fishing with a group of Americans in river Tungufljót at Skaftártunga. Sea trout can now be found throughout the fishing area, arriving relatively early, but nothing out of the ordinary. This occurs in good water conditions, where the fish move from the glacial water to freshwater. On that day, four sea trout and one salmon were caught.
