Changes to the operation of river Blanda

A new operator, Fish Partner ehf, is assuming control of the Blanda River and will be responsible for agency sales. The company has taken control of the river at a challenging period, as fishing in the river Blanda has been quite unproductive in recent years. The last two summers in river are among the worst since 1974.

It is clear that river Blanda will not sell “itself” before next summer. Kristján Páll Rafnsson, the owner and manager of Fish Partner, is well aware of this situation but remains optimistic. “We are offering a range of innovations and significantly reducing the price from its previous level.” The best price during the summer will be around 94,000 ISK, which is a significant decrease from last year. The house rental fee will be 42,000 ISK for a 24-hour period.

Fish Partner will present innovations, such as various events. They are planning to offer a two-handed casting course along the riverbanks of Blanda. Glenda Powell, a well-known angler and fly-casting instructor from Ireland, will be leading a section of the course. More information about the course can be obtained from the Fish Partner office. Fishing in the canyon from a boat will be available on beat 3 of the river, which is a new offering. Additionally, there are plans to fish in the estuary area and use two rods for trout.
