The Fishing Club of River Víðidalsá in Húnaþing has decided to tender fishing rights in Víðidalsá, Fitjaá and Hópin starting from the year 2024. The contract with the current lessee expires after next summer, and the tender is therefore based on the summer of 2024. An advertisement requesting offers will appear in the next few days.
The bid deadline will expire on Saturday, January 14th at 1 pm, and all bids will be announced in the fishing house at Víðidalsá after the deadline.
There are eight rods fished in Víðidalsá and Fitjaá and the river has had mixed results in recent years, like most salmon fishing rivers in the region. However, there was a considerable improvement last summer when the river produced 810 salmon.
The current lessee, Starir ehf., has operated the river through a subsidiary since the summer of 2014. Starir ehf. operates and sells fishing licenses in Þverá and Kjarrá in Borgarfjörður and Blanda, to name a few.
