What can be fished

Description

Lake Bjarnarvatn is in Sauðaneshreppur, N-Þingeyjarsýsla. It is in the land of Skoruvík, is estimated to be 0.12 km² in area and about 36 m above sea level. Another lake, Mávsvatn 0.2 km² in area and at 18 m above sea level, is a short distance from there and is also worth a visit if anglers on the other side are making their way to Bjarnarvatn. There is a jeep trail leading to the lakes and it is mostly used by tourists travelling to Skála or to Skoruvíkurbjarg. In the lakes there are both Arctic char and brown trout, quite good fish. There are rumors that there is a large brown trout in Mávsvatn. Net fishing was practiced in the lakes before.
