Salmon

Description

Fáskrúð in Dalir is a varied, enjoyable and demanding salmon river. It separates Laxárdalshrepp and Hvammssveit and flows about 20 km to the sea. The area extends from waterfall Katlafoss to the sea, but there are the fishing spots Neðri- and Efri Brúarstrengir, which are visible when driving over the highway bridge at the mouth of the river. There are many good and varied fishing spots in the river that are well suited for fly fishing.

Angling lodge

The fishing cabin by Fáskrúð is in the land of Ljárskógar. There are excellent facilities and accommodation for up to 6 people. Made up beds and cleaning after each group is included in the fishing permits. Anglers are asked to keep the house clean. If it’s abnormally dirty after the stay people will be charged for the cleaning. Guests can arrive at the cabin one hour before the fishing and on their day of departure they should evacuate the house one hour after the fishing. If problems arise, they can contact the supervisor of the area. Smoking is prohibited in the lodge.

Just over a third of the fishing summer, three rods are used in Fáskrúð, otherwise there are two rods All salmon over 69 cm should be released

Directions

Take highway 1 through Borgarnes. Turn on road nr. 60, Vestfjarðarveg over Bröttubrekku and through Búðardal. A little later you come to the track leading to the lodge at Fáskrúður, to the right hand marked Ljárskógar.

Fishing area: it’s about 12 – 14 km in length and has 36 marked fishing pools. It extends from waterfall Katlafoss and down to the bridge at the highway.
