What can be fished

Description

River Gufudalsá is a productive Arctic char river, ideal for the whole family. Young anglers have often taken their first step in fishing there. Sea run char are caught both in the river and the lake, mostly around one lbs., but up to four lbs. Several dozen salmon have been caught in recent years and most are caught on the fly. An average catch is 600 char and 30 salmon each summer. Access is good and a comfortable lodge is by the river. Considerable number of fish come from Gufudalsvatn, which gives best results when there is quiet and a ripple on the lake. Licenses are both sold for three days, from Thursday to Sunday, and two days from noon to noon. There is no quota, but anglers are asked to show moderation.

Accommodation & Facilities

Angling lodge

The fishing cabin is large and in good condition after major improvements in the spring of 2017. In the house there are six double bedrooms, four with beds and two with bunks. Also, a kitchen with utensils and tableware for 12 people, a dining room and a lounge, bathroom, WC, a hall, cold storage and a storage for waders. A terrace with a hot tub and a gas grill is next to the house.

On the first day anglers can arrive one hour before the fishing and on the last day they should depart no later than an hour after the fishing. In the house there can stay as many as the space allows. There are duvets & pillows in the house but guests need to bring bedding, towels and hygiene products. People should clean the house before departure and move all rubbish to the containers down by the highway. A map of the river can be found at the lodge, along with more detailed fishing rules. All catches should be listed in a logbook and anglers are asked to write a line in the book for each fish caught.
