What can be fished

Description

Lake Hítarvatn á Mýrum in Borgarbyggð is 7.6 km² in size and is 147 m above sea level. One of the best-known salmon rivers in the country, Hítará, flows from the lake. The area covers all of Hítarvatn, and there is a very good fishing in the lake, for both brown trout and Arctic char. Good fishing is found where streams flow into the lake, under the lava as well as into the bottom of the lake. Walking to the lake, whether to the east or west is advised. The walk on the east side can be quite difficult in sections, coarse lava and not for everyone will be comfortable walking below Foxufell when the water is high. The fishing is consistent through the season.
