Description

River Hólsá – the West bank is a well-known two rod fishing section at the bottom of the Rangá water system. Anglers can expect good catches as many salmon migrate through the area on their way to Ytri Rangá and Eystri Rangá and Þverá. The fishing is often good in the autumn, especially when sea trout migrate up the river. The catch in recent years is between 250 – 600 salmon.

Fishing rules

There is a fishing book in the facility building next to the lodge for Ytri Rangá. Anglers are obliged to register all catches there each day. People are encouraged to release salmon over 80 cm and to take trout in moderation.

Directions

Turn on the road down to Þykkvibær, 1 km before you come to Hellu and follow it to Þykkvibær. From there, drive to the farm Borg and further down a track/trail next to the barn.

The fishing area stretches from the boundary below the fishing spot Borg and down to the estuary of river Hólsá
