Description
River Húseyjarkvísl has established itself as one of the most productive sea trout rivers in the country and numerous huge fish are caught every year. Although the fishing area is primarily known for big sea trout, a few salmon are also caught there. In Húseyjarkvísl the fishing rules are fly fishing only and all fish must be released. Without a doubt, catch and release is the reason that such large sea trout are caught in the river; sea trout up to 96 cm have been landed. The river is fished for two to three days at a time. The average catch is about 650 sea trout each summer.

Angling lodge
A comfortable fishing cabin with most amenities needed is included in the fishing permits. There are three double rooms and a sleeping loft. Anglers can relax in a hot tub after a day of fishing.
Fishing rules
There are two fishing seasons, from April 1st to June 24th, and then again from September 25th to October 20th each year

The fishing area is 12 km in length and extends from the fishing spot Silungapollur (just above the highway) and down to the confluence by the River Héraðsvötn.
