What can be fished

Description

Hvannadalsá is a beautiful salmon river in Ísafjarðardjúp with a diverse selection of fishing spots. It flows through Hvanndalur and into the sea at Langadalsströnd. Hvanndalsá is one of three salmon rivers in Ísafjarðardjúpi and often called the “pearl” in Djúpið. It is the sister river of Langadalsá and they share the same estuary. The fishing area of Hvannadalsá is rather short, up to the waterfall Stekkjarfoss, but the river has much stronger flows and carries than Langadalsá.

Accommodation & Facilities

Angling lodge

The fishing cabin is rather small, with four rooms that have upper and lower bunk beds. It is old but is still comfortable. Anglers bring their own sheets or a sleeping bag and can arrive at the cabin one hour before the fishing starts, departing from the cabin no later than 45 minutes after the fishing ends. People clean the house themselves and return it as good as it was when they arrived.

Fishing rules

All salmon must be released, but a modest amount of char may be kept
