River Miðfjarðará is without a doubt one of the most productive salmon rivers in the country, but what few people probably know is that it also contains considerable numbers of char. The salmon beat starts where the trout beat ends, so all the salmon that are going into Miðfjarðará, and its tributaries go through the trout beat. Sea trout can also be found in the lower part of this area, but they are usually caught in the autumn. The three rods are always sold together. The average catch has been about 200 char, a few salmon and sea trout.
