What can be fished

River Miðfjarðará is without a doubt one of the most productive salmon rivers in the country, but what few people probably know is that it also contains considerable numbers of char. The salmon beat starts where the trout beat ends, so all the salmon that are going into Miðfjarðará, and its tributaries go through the trout beat. Sea trout can also be found in the lower part of this area, but they are usually caught in the autumn. The three rods are always sold together. The average catch has been about 200 char, a few salmon and sea trout.

Accommodation & Facilities

Angling lodge

There is a fine fishing cabin in the area with a sleeping space for six people. All the necessary equipment is available for cooking and there is also a grill by the house. Good shower facilities are also in the house. Anglers need to bring duvets and sleeping bags, tablecloths and towels. Guests are urged to be tidy, clean the house well on departure and take all rubbish with them. The cabin is located below the road just before the bridge over Vesturá. The river is fished from the morning into the evening and anglers are allowed to arrive at the lodge after 22:00 pm the evening before the fishing.
