River Mýrarkvísl is one of the tributaries of Laxá in Aðaldal. Like Laxá, it is known for high average weight of salmon and a beautiful environment. Mýrarkvísl flows into Laxá about 4 km from the estuary. Despite being a tributary of Laxá, the rivers are very different. Mýrarkvísl is a sensitive river that needs to be approached carefully to be successful. There are few major obstacles in the river for salmon until the waterfall Reykjafoss where there is a salmon ladder. Single rods are sold, one day at a time, or multi days where all the four rods are sold together. In recent years the catch has been between 80 – 180 salmon and about 600 brown trout.
