Fishing rules

Care must be taken to ensure that the top 3 km of the river is completely protected due to the char spawning grounds. Fishing there is prohibited. Conservation is one of the reasons why the river is completely sustainable and has not experienced the same downturns as other char rivers in the country. There is no quota, but it is expected that anglers are willing to show restraint and release larger fish.

Directions

There are 14 marked fishing spots in the river, the lowest one is Kelda and the top one is Naumamelur. In the tributary, Hengifossá, are 3 marked spots.
