What can be fished

Description

Miðfjarðará, which has its source in Mælifellsheiði northwest of Kistufell, has a large catchment area and has all the characteristics of a rain fed river. Litla-Kverká joins from the west, just below the deserted farm Kverkártunga. Now that three waterfalls in the river were made passable by fish, salmon can now travel 9 km up the river. In good years, the river returns close to 250 salmon. Good sea char fishing is also available in Miðfjarðará and a 3-5 lb char can often be caught.
