River Fjarðará has its source east of Lágheiði and in the mountains on both sides of the valley. It is a 5 km long rain fed river that is almost always clear, rather neat and with medium water, calm in the lower part but with faster currents in the upper part. In Fjarðará the main catch is sea-run char, which are mostly 35 – 45 cm, and some brown trout. In addition, 2-4 salmon are always caught every summer. This is a popular river and is suitable for families and beginners.
