What can be fished

Description

Sandvíkurheiði is between Bakkaflói and Vopnafjörður and there are some good fishing lakes. The main ones are Hólmavatn, Bakkavatn and Hundsvatn. In lake Hundsvatn are brown trout but in the others there are Arctic char. Hundsvatn is 230 m above sea level and is pprox.. 0.12 km² in size. It is west of the main road that runs through Sandvíkurheiði. To the east is Lake Bakkavatn and it is also 230 m above sea level. Its area is about 0.44 km². There were a lot of nice char in it while net fishing was done, but now the story is different. Access to Bakkavatn is very good, as it is just east of the main road. Lake Hólmavatn is also 230 m above sea level and is estimated to be 0.65 km² in area. It is located somewhat further east on the heath than Bakkavatn and access requires quite a walk to it. The char in Hólmavatn is similar to the char in Bakkavatn.
