Sauðlauksdalsvatn is about 0.35 km² in area and about 10 m above sea level. The lake holds Arctic char, both sea-going and resident. There are also good brown trout in the lake and anglers have caught fish up to 16 pounds. Most of the char are 1-1.5 pounds in weight. The lake has been within the Fishing Card for several years and many anglers have fished it regularly over the years, as camping by the lake is allowed. A good fishing place is where the river flows into the lake. It is suitable for fly fishing, as it is easy to wade out into the yellow sand.
