What can be fished

Description

Lake Selvatn is 0.38 km²in area, has been measured at a depth of about 40m and lies at 131m above sea level. The estuary is called Gudduós , where a small creek flows from the lake. This creek joins the Hólmsá river which flows into Elliðavatn. There is some fishing in Selvatn and the fish there are said to be big, Arctic char up to 4 pounds and brown trout that can reach 8 pounds.

Directions

It is best to get to the lake by driving the Hafravatns-road or Geitháls-road until one has reached Nesjavalla-road. Turn east at the fork at the horse center Dal. From there, a road leads to the summer cottages west of Selvatn. It is not possible to drive by the lake, but it is about 1 km long and just about 300 m wide.

It is permitted to fish in the whole lake
