The trout beat in Tungufljót has been on the rise in recent years and those who have put in the effort to fish there have often done well. The area is very extensive, so there is good space for the 8 rods that are allowed to fish. There are many respectable fishing spots, ranging from large, fast-flowing canyons to small stillwater banks in the tributaries. Streamers are the best method in the main river, but upstream fishing techniques including dry fly work well in the tributaries. The trout can be very big and those who know the river best often fish well. There is often good fishing at the confluences where Beiná and Laugá fall into Almenningsá and where the last-named falls into Tungufljót.
