Vatnamót is one of the best and most productive fishing spots in Iceland. The main catch is sea trout, but also salmon and char. Vatnamót fishing area is on the sands east of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, where Hörgsá, Fossálar and Breiðabakkakvisl, together with smaller streams, merge with the glacial water of Skaftá. Vatnamót is a large catchment area with many possible fishing spots. The sandy bottom is constantly changing, and anglers will have to look for probable fishing spots. You can fish from the shore at 4-5 km area.
