What can be fished

Description

Vatnsá flows from Heiðarvatn to Heiðardalur in Mýrdalur, which is just above Vík. Vatnsá is a fun salmon and sea trout river that runs through a beautiful valley on its way down to Kerlingardalsá, where it merges before flowing into the sea. It is small and crystal clear and it is important to approach all fishing spots with great care, so as not to scare the fish.

Accommodation & Facilities

Fishing cabin

Anglers fishing in Vatnsá have access to a fishing cabin with three double rooms, as well as a living room, kitchen and a toilet. Included in the price are made up beds and cleaning and guests are encouraged to take good care of the house. The fishing cabin is right by the outfall from Heiðarvatn and there is a trail to the house after one passes through the driveway at Litla Heiði.

Fishing rules

Anglers are encouraged to fish on barbless flies. Spinning rods may not be used for fishing. Off-road driving is not permitted. Guests are asked to record all catches for the information of the leaseholder.

Two male fish under 68 cm may be taken daily. However, all salmon should be released in October. In October it is permitted to take six sea trout that are under 55 cm.

Directions

The fishing area is about 6 km, with about 40 marked fishing spots
