Fishing in river Miðfjarðará at the end of July was fantastic. We have to go back to 2018 to find similar fishing numbers. The best day was Friday, July 26th, with a total of 63 salmon caught. On a similar note, 58 salmon were caught on Saturday. In comparison, the best day in the summer of 2023 was July 25th, with 32 salmon caught. It was the only day when the catch of salmon exceeded 30. Therefore, the increase in the river Miðfjarðará is about 100%.
A total of 928 salmon have been caught in river Miðfjarðará. If everything goes as expected and the increase is around 100%, it should end up with approximately 2600 to 2700 salmon.
