The first salmon of the season in Iceland was caught today in the fishing area Skuggi (at the junction of rivers Grímsa and Hvíta), specifically in Skuggastrengur. It measured 84 cm.
Salmon have been spotted in the Laxá River in Kjós and possibly in the Elliðaám River, although the latter might have been a kelt. Several well-known salmon rivers will open next weekend and in the following week, such as Urriðafoss in Þjórsá, river Blanda, river Þverá/Kjarrá, and river Norðurá.
