From time to time there are some changes with the tenants of rivers. River Breiðdalsá, which is a beautiful salmon river in the east part of Iceland, is one of them and Peter Rippin the owner of Ripp Sporting has signed a ten-year lease with Breiðdalsá fishing club, 2023 – 2032. The Icelandic company Kolskeggur will take care of the sale and operation of Breiðdalsá, as it does for several other rivers that Peter Rippin leases e.g. Eystri Rangá and Afall. The fishing in the river has declined in recent years, but the new tenant wants to make it an exciting option again. The release of smolts has been greatly increased and they are expecting much better fishing as early as 2024. This is a very diverse fishing area with many beautiful fishing spots and good access. Breiðdalsá is fished with six to eight rods during the salmon fishing season from 20.06-20.09. The price of fishing licenses is kept low to begin with, 17,000 – 50,000 ISK/per rod.
