River Deildará on Melrakkaslétta is a productive salmon river. Like other salmon rivers in Þistilfjörður there is a good chance to hook into a big salmon in Deildará. The river is not particularly big and is therefore suitable for those who want to use a single-handed rod. Lightweight rods, small flies and hitch tubes are the right tools for Deildará. It has a lot to offer; varied fishing spots, unique natural beauty, peaceful environment, diverse bird life and the most important thing: the river is productive. The river is fished for two days at a time, from noon to noon. The average catch in the last 6 years is about 230 salmon.
