Description
This great char river is in Fljótum and the fishing there has been good in recent years. In this area there is almost only char, although salmon and brown trout may also be found in the river. The surroundings of the river are considered to be peaceful and beautiful. The highest catch in the river was 2004 when 2874 char were caught. In recent years the average catch has been around 920 char. The river is fished two to three days at a time.
Accommodation & Facilities
Angling lodge
A new fishing cabin was put into use in the summer of 2025. It is recently renovated, very comfortable with sleeping space for up to 6 people in two bedrooms. It is located by Stóra-Reykir and has all the basic necessities, but anglers need to bring their own sheets and towels. The fishing cabin has an internet access and a good TV.
Angler may enter the cabin one hour before the first shift and must vacate it within an hour after the last shift ends. Dogs are prohibited in the cabin and by the river. Guests are asked to clean the lodge after their stay. All types of cars can be drive to the cabin.
Fishing rules
The catch limit is 8 char per shift and there is no quota for brown trout
