What can be fished

Description

River Eskifjarðará runs from the highlands above the fjord to the sea, close to the town. It was considered a good char river in previous years but seems to have been greatly spoiled with gravel processing. However, it is still possible to fish in the estuary and late summer in the valley. Above the deserted farm Eskifjarðarsel, it is possible to find decent fishing spots where you can have excellent sea-run char fishing in the autumn. It is probably an indication of how little the locals value the fishing as licenses are not sold, but angling is allowed to everyone free of charge.

Directions

As the situation is today, fishing is mainly at the estuary and at Eiðsstaðir above the deserted farm Eskifjarðarsel
