What can be fished

Description

The “pond” Hnausatjörn is in Vatnsdalur and is about 0.21 km² in area. The catch is mainly Arctic char and brown trout, but also sea trout and eel from time to time. In recent years, vegetation has increased in the lake, which is detrimental to the fishing. The fish are usually around 1 pound. A small stream flows from Vatnsdalsá to Hnausatjörn, but the drainage is through the canal Árfar. Hnausatjörn is a popular fishing station, as the facilities are good by the lake, including a beautiful little summerhouse on the hillside above the lake and plenty of fish.
