What can be fished

Description

River Hrolleifsdalsá is in Hrolleifsdal that lies to the southeast of Tröllaskagafjallgarð. The valley is said to be named after the settler Hrolleifur. The river flows through the eastern part of Skagafjörður, about 18 km from the town Hofsós and just south of the churchyard Fell in Sléttuhlíð. This enjoyable fishing area offers very good char and brown trout fishing, and there is also the chance of salmon.

Accommodation & Facilities

Angling lodge

A nice fishing cabin is by the river. It has two double bedrooms and a sleeping loft. Access is to hot water and a shower. The cabin has electricity, and all the main kitchen equipment is available, such as a stove, refrigerator, coffee machine, toaster and more. There is a gas grill on the terrace. Anglers can arrive at the cabin one hour before the fishing and need to depart before 14:00 on the last day of fishing. Guests need to clean the cabin before departure and remove garbage. They need to bring duvets, sheets, dishcloths and dish towels.

Fishing rules

Fishing with fly, spinner and a worm is permitted in the river, from the estuary and up to the bridge. Above the bridge is fly fishing only.

Directions

The house is located above the road in the area of Tjarnir. Drive highway nr. 76 to the farm Tjarnir and then take a right turn to a trail that leads to the house. It is possible to drive to the fishing spots in the lower part of the river, but only possible to walk to the ones that are in the valley.

There are about 30 fishing spots in the river
